Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp. turns over the keys for six just-completed homes to returning veterans at Dec. 19 ceremony. Nation’s first-ever subdivision exclusively for veterans built by Long Island Homebuilders Care Development Corp. is completed in Islandia
WHEN: Dec. 19, 2013, 11 a.m.
WHAT: Just in time for Christmas, six veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars who have returned home to Long Island and their families, get their dreams answered as they receive the keys to their deeply discounted new homes in what is believed to be the nation’s first-ever housing subdivision in the U.S. constructed exclusively for returning veterans, right here in the Village of Islandia, on Long Island in the state of New York. A ribbon cutting ceremony attended by the veterans, their families, volunteers, donors, officials of LIBI and others will mark the opening of this one-of-a-kind subdivision which will allow these Veterans to remain on Long Island. The homes were built by Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp., a 501(c)3 charitable arm of the Long Island Builders Institute, under the charity’s “Building New Homes for Returning Veterans” program. Each home has been constructed by a volunteer individual LIBI member home builder. The homebuilders are: Almas Construction Co., Alex Armonas Development Corp., The Beechwood Organization, Benchmark Home Builders, Lewis Enterprises and Ornstein Leyton Co. Each home will be filled with house-warming gifts from the employees of CA Technologies and welcome baskets.
WHO: Officials and volunteers of Long Island Home Builders Care Development Corp., Members of LIBI, the six veterans and their families, the builders, the VFW commanders selection committee, officials of CA Technologies, which donated the land, and hundreds of LIBI members, donors, supporters and members of the community as well as many various elected officials.
WHERE: Veterans Way, south side of Motor Parkway (1/4 mile west of Old Nichol’s Road, Islandia. (LIE to Exit 58, north on Old Nicholls Road, left turn at the 7-Eleven onto Motor Parkway; Veterans Way will be on your left). Parking available with bus transport to Veterans Way available at Hyatt hotel west of the site.
